Masaru History
Daimon Masaru was born on April 2nd, in Tokyo, to parents Daimon Suguru and Daimon Sayuri. When Masaru was young, his father embarked on an expedition to a place known as the Digital World – a location he never returned from. Before his father and Masaru were seperated, however, Suguru passed on his values on being a man to Masaru, along with a pendant. Both things were of great importance to Masaru growing up, and by the time he was a teenager, Masaru grew into a headstrong young man. Calling himself “Japan's number one 'kenka banchou'” (“banchou” meaning street fighter, delinquent, and various other things that are hard to directly translate), taking on all comers and gathering a reputation as a powerful street brawler.
One day, years after his father's disappearance, Masaru encountered a strange creature: a digimon named Agumon, and a being native to the world his father disappeared from. Masaru and Agumon began their relationship by fighting one another, upon which they both collapsed, earning each other's respect. Agumon chose to become Masaru's father, calling him “aniki” (meaning “boss” or “big brother”, and often used by gang members to refer to their seniors). However, the two of them were quickly drawn into DATS, an organization formed by those who had returned from the Digital World expedition, whose mission was to stop digimon incursions into the real world. After several ordeals, Masaru and Agumon inevitably decided to join DATS, out of a desire to fight more Digimon and thus meet stronger opponents than they could get in the human world.
In DATS, Masaru found two comrades: Fujieda Yoshino and Touma H. Nortstein, along with their partners, Lalamon and Gaomon. In the case of the latter, the two clashed almost immediately before earning each other's respect during an (unauthorized) mission to the Digital World.
Eventually, Masaru's own sister became involved with digimon through an encounter with a digimon named Piyomon, who hatched from an egg that appeared at Masaru's home. This led to an encounter with a mysterious digimon named Falcomon, and later, his master, Mercurimon, an incredibly powerful digimon who arrived to save Falcomon from defeat. Piyomon was reverted to an egg while attacking Mercurimon, leading to him being reborn with his mind warped by exposure to raw human emotions. Masaru and his partner were forced to defeat Piyomon as Agumon evolved into a higher form after a difficult battle. Afterwards, DATS decided to go to the Digital World in order to stop Mercurimon, believing that he had set Piyomon on the real world and intended to attack it. Beforehand, however, Masaru learned the truth of what happened to his father, and the reason for his going to the Digital World.
Once in the Digital World, they encountered a young boy named Ikuto, who was Falcomon's partner appeared to believe he himself was a digimon. After a disastrous battle with Mercurimon, the group were forced to return to the real world with Ikuto, who became shellshocked by the fact that he wasn't actually a digimon. Masaru attempted to help the boy transition, becoming almost like a big brother to him. Eventually, they learned Ikuto was a boy who'd been transported to the digital world as a baby, partially prompting the original expedition in the first place. However, amidst these events, Gotsumon, a servant of Mercurimon, attacked the human world. Unbeknown to DATS, Gotsumon was acting with a digimon named SaberLeomon, rather than his master, out of a desire to kill Ikuto, who Gotsumon saw as a traitor. SaberLeomon himself eventually attacked, only for him to be killed by the creation of a man known as Akihiro Kurata, who had been part of the Digital World expedition.
Still believing this all to be the work of Mercurimon, DATS returned to the digital world, this time backed up by Kurata and his subordinates. They confronted Mercurimon, who revealed the truth – Mercurimon never made aggression towards the human world, and that he had known Masaru's father. Then, the powerful digimon revealed one other fact... namely, that Kurata had in years previous attacked the Digital World with his creations, the “Gizmon”, artificial digimon that had the ability to delete digimon permanently. This led to the death of Ikuto's surrogate mother, Yukidarumon, and caused Mercurimon to believe humans had betrayed the digital world. Kurata attacked with one of his Gizmon, a more powerful one called Gizmon XT, fatally wounding Mercurimon and defeating Masaru and all his friends. Mercurimon managed to damage the Gizmon before meeting his end, allowing Ikuto to evolve his partner and destroy it.
Nevertheless, Kurata was one step ahead. He returned to the human world ahead of Masaru and the others, and managed to engineer falsehoods that resulted in Masaru and his comrades being branded traitors. Their memories of digimon were erased, but thankfully, Agumon and the others escaped and were able to reawaken their human friends' memories. Though it took a sacrifice by their commander, Rentarou Satsuma, to do it, Masaru and his friends were able to return to the digital world, hoping to put a stop to the Digimon Extermination Plan that Kurata had put into action. There, they met a powerful digimon named BanchouLeomon, who taught them how to evolve their digimon even further and prompted them to seek out the “Holy Capital.” On his instructions, they found the Holy Capital... which was a massive city atop the back of a gigantic digimon named ElDoradimon. ElDoradimon became targetted by Kurata's forces, which were now bolstered by humans called Bio-Hybrids, who had been given the ability to turn into digimon by the mad scientist.
Eventually, despite their efforts, Kurata successfully managed to transport ElDoradimon to the real world. There, while Masaru was wrapped up fighting Kouki, one of the Bio-Hybrids, Kurata successfully destroyed ElDoradimon using an enormous lance formed from multiple Gizmon. In the wake of this, Masaru and the others went underground, though Touma had gone missing. Masaru soon learned the reason why: Touma had apparently defected to Kurata's side. In his rage over this betrayal, Masaru evolved Agumon to a dark version of his final form, Shine Greymon, called “Ruin Mode.” ShineGreymon savagely attacked Touma's partner, only to revert to a digi-egg under the stress of his new form. Soon after, BanchouLeomon arrived, telling Masaru that due to his actions, Agumon would never remember him once he was reborn.
Soon after, Kurata revealed his real intentions. He'd been using the life energy of the digimon he'd been killing to revive an ancient digimon known as Belphemon so he could use it to take over the world. Furthermore, he had placed a bomb on Touma's sister in order to force him to work for him. Eventually, Touma managed to save his sister and destroy the device Kurata was using to control Belphemon. However, Kurata managed to merge himself with Belphemon, taking full control of it and transforming it into a more powerful form. Unable to sit back on the sidelines, Masaru rushed to join the battle with Agumon's egg in tow. Despite BanchouLeomon's words, amidst the chaos, Agumon was reborn with full memories of Masaru, and as a result, the two of them were able to evoke ShineGreymon's true powered up form, “Burst Mode.” Together, they defeated Kurata/Belphemon, only for Kurata to reveal his final gambit... a massive “Time Space Oscillation Bomb” that he then set off. Kurata was consumed in the explosion, and the barrier between the digital world and the human world was destroyed, leading to the potential for a collision between the two.
On BanchouLeomon's instructions, Masaru and his group were sent to appeal to the ruler of the Digital World, the god-like Yggdrasil. When they arrived however, they encountered resistance from Yggdrasil's Royal Knights, and met a shocking revelation... somehow, Yggdrasil was in the body of Masaru's father. Eventually, the truth became known – when Kurata killed Mercurimon, Yggdrasil swore for Suguru to be executed and for humanity to be exterminated. To save Suguru, BanchouLeomon (in reality Suguru's partner) took Suguru's soul into his body... only for Yggdrasil to take control of the empty shell himself. In order to stop Yggdrasil's bid to destroy humanity, BanchouLeomon sacrificed himself so Masaru could deal the finishing blow, effectively leading to a heartbroken Masaru killing his own father.
Yggdrasil was not done, however, and emerged in its true form now that it was free of Suguru's body. It took the battle to the human world, where even its remaining Royal Knights turned against it. Ultimately, Masaru and Agumon summoned enough power to activate Agumon's Burst Mode, and defeated Yggdrasil utterly. As a result, the god-like being admitted defeat, and withdrew itself to view how humans and digimon would evolve together. In addition, he resurrected Suguru, finally returning the man to his family. With the crisis complete, it was time for the digimon to return to the digital world without their partners... that is, save for Masaru, who remained at Agumon's side, going on his own adventure in the digital world.

The pair recruited Masaru for an adventure in another dimension, where a digimon called Quartzmon stood poised to turn that world and all universes into a kind of space called “Digi Quartz.” There, Masaru worked with digimon and heroes from multiple worlds, eventually lending his and Agumon's powers to power up an item called the “Brave Snatcher”, which allowed them to deal the final blow to Quartzmon. With that task done, Masaru and Agumon were returned to their own world.
